Meet Agnieszka and Łukasz - a married couple of international drivers with 20 years of experience in Gólcz™.

Łukasz, Agnieszka - let me address you both - how did it happen that you found yourselves behind the wheel of a Gólcz truck together? Did one of you work here first and pull the other one along? Did you drive together from the very beginning?

Agnieszka: Łukasz was the first one. He'd already been working as a driver for a few years while I was staying at home with our baby girl. But as soon as she grew old enough to go to preschool, I completed all the required courses and qualifications to join my husband.

Łukasz: It's true. I've been driving since 1996. The Gólcz™ company was my third job in this profession. But as you can see - it is where I chose to stay the longest.

In this setup, do you still long to drive back home? And what operating mode do you work in?

Łukasz: Definitely. Although, against all odds, we spend quite a lot of time at home and have room to relax. Not only do we ride double staff - which gives us more recovery time on the road - but we also ride in such an operating mode that allows us to get back home every weekend. And that's not so obvious in this industry!

Agnieszka: It's a healthy balance. After all... in this job, you spend more time in the cab with the other driver than in your own home with your family. It's good for us to be our shifters and drive together. It's just convenient. Otherwise, we wouldn't see each other very often.

Do you also spend time together outside of work?

Łukasz: ...yes! Not sure how it works, but we really don't get bored together. At the weekends we go motorbike riding, fishing, mushroom picking... Despite our differences, we seem to match up well, so it works out. I'm the quiet one - Agnieszka is the spark of our relationship. But we like completely different types of music - so each of us listens to our own music on headphones!

Agnieszka: But that's not all. We've had a dog - a Pekingese mix, Tiko - accompanying us on every tour and at weekends for a couple of years now. The cab is an even more natural home for him than the real one! He's all about pure happiness, just at the word "truck". Lucky for him that he is so tiny. But even though we had to equip him with the necessary documents, safety features and checkups, it was still worth it. Together it's so much more fun.

What do you value your work for?

Łukasz: The first thought that comes to mind when I think of Gólcz™ is family. I know, it may sound clichéd - yet it is true. We have known each other for so many years... When I started working, it was a small company in the process of expansion. We all were youngsters. Now everything has changed - the volume, the scope, the number of people employed - except for that one thing. This mutual, family-like contact and approach to each other. That's something I value a lot. And it's also what has kept us here for so long.

In your opinion, what should a future Gólcz driver be like?

Agnieszka: He or she should be able to adapt to this family vibe! As well as to this lifestyle. The truth is that not everyone will fit in. Here you don't close the factory gate at the end of the shift or count down to getting back home for the night... This is home.

‍Łukasz: You also have to be open to the others - especially on such double staffing. It's an excellent opportunity for young people in particular because you can learn a lot from more experienced colleagues. And that's by just observing. You don't have to learn everything from scratch, from your own mistakes. But you also have to come out with something in return. And get along, help, respect someone's privacy, and just be with your thoughts.
